More Info on Patricia Hinkson’s Dismissal from Vital Stats Office

The Vital Statistics Office is functioning with a new director, following the abrupt departure of Patricia Hinkson, who was given her marching orders late Tuesday evening.  The reason behind Hinkson’s termination has not been made public and no one from the ministry wishes to go on record to say why.  It is believed, however, that she was summarily dismissed for being unable to deliver on orders from her superiors.  Those orders, we are told, had to do with the processing of documents relating to the ongoing re-registration process.  It is also known that she was being discouraged from working on Saturdays when the department was tasked to expedite the processing of a voluminous backlog of documents.  Hinkson had been on medical leave for weeks and soon after her return, she got the axe in a letter delivered to her by a driver. The contract officer, who is an ardent supporter of the Prime Minister in the Queen Square division, has since been replaced by Ixchell Murillo.  Information reaching our news desk is that Hinkson is seeking legal advice in respect of her removal.  On Wednesday, the perennially busy Vital Stats Office on Hyde’s Lane was closed for the day, a strange occurrence since it was not a public and bank holiday.  The unannounced closure prompted the People’s United Party to issue a release demanding answers from Attorney General Michael Peyrefitte, as well as the Registrar General Trienia Young.
