Brown Was Wanted for Threatening the Life of His Mother

Chester Williams

As you heard, relatives and friends say that Brown was shot to the abdomen, but Deputy Commissioner of Police, Chester Williams, says that he was never injured by lethal or rubber bullets and was in fact taken to the hospital for treatment for scratches to his hands. Williams, however, confirms that the minor, Rene Ayuso, was detained because he had hurled missiles at the officers during the raid.  Brown was wanted for threatening the lives of several family members, including his mother.

Chester Williams, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations)

“I have met with Brian Brown and his brother Jason with a view to see what can be done to bring this matter to an end. But Brian Brown is adamant that his family members owe him money and he want the money to be paid. And he had made it categorically clear that if his money is not paid, he will kill his family including mother, his brother and his sister. And that he has soldiers who can do it for him. And so as a police department, we cannot take his threat lightly. Whenever those threats are made, we must act. I will tell you that his mother lives in fear every day that he will come and do her something or will send someone to do her something. So the police, as far as I am concerned, acted within the scope of the law in how the matter was dealt with today and I commend the officers for the tactic that they used in getting him into custody this morning.  The issue right now as it relates to him and his mother is a matter that will be dealt with by the courts. Brian Brown will be charged and will be taken before a magistrate and the court will determine the matter between them. I do not foresee myself doing any talk with Brian Brown again; I have spoken to him before, he seems adamant about carrying out his actions and so the chips will fall where they may in the courts.”
