Colombian Consultant Shares Best Practices to Grow Belizean Businesses

A consultant from Presidential Agency for International Cooperation of Colombia began a two-day workshop in Belize on how to grow businesses. Yeison Laiton of the Entrepreneurship and Business Development for Mesoamerican countries in that South American country is providing tools on best practices for economic development in Belize, taking successful models from his home country that could be adapted by local entrepreneurs and business owners. There are a total of ten methodologies for various areas including education, economy and agriculture and today, the workshop focused on a group from Belize City.

“EDEM project is sponsored by the European Union, the Colombia government put some money too and the Colombian entities are going to share the good and successful methodologies in entrepreneurship to the entities of Belize’s ecosystem of entrepreneurship. They are generally methodologies that are focused on two steps. The early stage is that all the entrepreneurs have to work. And the other step is how to grow the new business, the new initiatives. So there are ten modules that are focused on improve these steps in the ecosystem of Belize.”

“BELTRAIDE is assisting in coordinating visit to all stakeholders. Today we are visited by many of the stakeholders of the entrepreneurial ecosystem. The consultant is basically presenting about nine methodologies and good practices from Colombia with the objective of transferring some of these methodologies to the stakeholders in Belize. Today we are basically doing some groundwork in trying to get their commitment from persons that are representing at an executive or director-level from these stakeholders for the transfer of these methodologies between 2018 and 2019.”
