Joseph Myvett

An unsuspecting bus driver was chopped as he let off a passenger. Late last week, twenty-five-year-old Arnulfo Muñoz, a resident of Armenia was transporting employees from Santander Factor to the village of Amentia on the Hummingbird Highway. Munoz claims that around mile fifty, one of his fares asked to be let off near the Funez Bar on the highway.  The man, who is not known to Munoz, proceeded to chop him on the face before rushing off the bus. Assistant Commissioner of Police Joseph Myvett says that Muñoz lost his right eye as a result of the chopping.

ACP Joseph Myvett, Head, National Crimes Investigation Branch

“On Thursday, July fifth, shortly after four p.m., police responded to an information in Armenia Village where their investigation revealed that whilst the bus driver Arnulfo Munoz was transporting workers from Santander back to Armenia Village, someone in the bus asked that he stopped the bus and upon him doing so, he felt, he saw someone walking towards him from the back of the bus whom he was not able to recognize who inflicted a chop wound to the right side of his face which caused him to have lost his eye, his right eye.  Police have questioned several persons who were on the bus and this is an ongoing investigation.”

“Based on your investigation so far, could you determine, could you say whether or not the driver was intoxicated?”

ACP Joseph Myvett

“We do not know, the persons on the bus who were interviewed are not being or are not cooperating at this time, so we are looking at all those who were on the bus as a part of this investigation.”

“Had there been any prior dispute or so on the bus?”

ACP Joseph Myvett

“No, none that we know about or none that was reported to the police.”
