Rudolph Smith Jr. Charged with Rape & Aggravated Burglary
A jury was still deliberating this evening in the court of Justice Colin Williams for a verdict in the case of Rudolph Smith Junior, charged with rape and aggravated burglary. Smith is accused in an incident that occurred in November, 2011, at a house on Berkley Street. At the time, a fifteen-year-old girl claimed that she was awakened when she felt a man on her. According to the minor, the man had a knife and threatened that he would hurt her sister who was in the same room if she made noises. The minor also said that he placed the knife to her throat and told her to take off her pants. She said when she did, he raped her and left the house. Smith denied the allegations saying that he had a alibi witness, but that that person was not able to reach court. Smith was unrepresented, while Kileru Awich represented the Crown.
