‘Clear the Land’ Castro Says Decision to Reassign Dr. Carla Barnett was PM’s Prerogative

Edmond ‘Clear the Land’ Castro

Minister Edmond Castro, himself a fairly new minister, when asked to weigh in on the latest round of ministerial musical chairs, told the media that the prime minister has the power to make such decisions.  When pressed about the optics of Barnett’s demotion to a low key ministry, Castro stuck to his guns, stating that the decision was simply based on Doctor Barnett’s request for reassignment.

Edmond ‘Clear the Land’ Castro, Minister of Transport & NEMO

“The prime minister is the prime minister and the prime minister, he has that prerogative.  If he wants to shuffle Cabinet or he wants to shuffle me every three days or every four days, that’s his prerogative.  So there is nothing wrong, unu di dig too deep into the prerogative.”

“But a place referred to by the prime minister as a hotbed of corruption, sir?”

Edmond Castro

“Yoh di ask me something, yoh wahn wait til ah ansa or yoh wahn talk foolishness?  I believe it’s the prime minister’s prerogative to shuffle Cabinet as he sees fit and that end deh.”

“So do you disagree with this opinion that to move somebody with Dr. Barnett’s integrity is…”

Edmond Castro

“No sir, no sir, no such thing.  It’s the prerogative of the prime minister to shuffle Cabinet or a member of Cabinet as he sees fit.  There is nothing fu do with integrity.  Dr. Carla Barnett da wahn hard worker, very brilliant lady and she…”

“So why move her?”

Edmond Castro

“If I tiad a NEMO and I seh PM me tiad a NEMO, try find somebody else fi tek ova NEMO noh man, and I di ask he fi mek somebody else tek ova NEMO, why would that be a problem?  Da because… ih mek no sense Papa.”
