Investigation into Spoonaz Robbery Continues

Proprietor Jeremy Spooners was robbed under the threat of being shot on Monday night while in the process of locking up his business on North Front Street.  During the holdup at Spoonaz Café, a lone gunman successfully made off with approximately five thousand dollars in Belize and U.S. currencies.  Spooners was taken by surprise when someone reportedly dressed as a security guard approached and took aim at him with the firearm.  After relieving the businessman of cash and his licensed nine millimeter handgun, the thief made good his escape from the café.  Inspector Wilfredo Ferrufino shared a few added details of the incident.

Insp. Wilfredo Ferrufino, C.I.B., Belize City

“On Monday June fourth, police responded to a robbery at Spoonaz Café, this would be on North Front Street.  Upon speaking with the owner of that business, he reported that at about 10:50 p.m. that night, upon closing his business, or while closing his business, he was accosted by a single male person dressed in a security guard’s uniform, what looked like to him a security guard’s uniform.  He was forced into the establishment and whilst in there he was tied up and robbed of cash and his licensed nine millimeter pistol.  That matter is under investigation, nobody has been arrested or detained and the investigation continues.”

“Sir, was the incident captured on security cameras and are you reviewing those?”

Insp. Wilfredo Ferrufino

“Like I said, the investigation is ongoing.  We are looking into all angles, cameras, witnesses, et cetera.”
