Fire engine parade to light up Bz. City

If the sights and sounds of Carnival on Saturday haven’t gotten you into the celebration spirit yet, then tonight’s fire engine parade should do the trick. Starting at seven p.m. tonight a motorcade of Belize’s fire fighting trucks will weave its way through city streets. From the main fire station on Cleghorn Street, the parade goes around the Flag Monument, across Belcan Bridge, down Central American Boulevard, into Faber’s Road, through to Queen Charlotte Street, down Cemetery Lane, into Yabra Road, down Regent Street, comes around to Albert Street, turns right into Dean Street, into Amara Avenue, goes across Cemetery Road into Mosul Street, left into Vernon Street, across the Bel-China Bridge, turns right into North Front Street, into Angel Lane, down Handyside Street, into Daly Street. From there the motorcade goes onto Craig Street, down Barrack Road, left into Freetown Road, through Cinderella Plaza, right into Baymen Avenue, left into Princess Margaret Drive, left into St. Thomas Street, another left onto Freetown Road, right onto Mapp Street and then turns right back onto Cleghorn Street where the trucks will assemble again at the fire station. The route was co-ordinated by the National Fire Service and in its design, should give everyone a chance to see the fire fighters in full regalia without moving too far from home.
