Killer of Owen McFoy Still at Large

Owen McFoy

A criminal investigation into the Labour Day murder of Owen McFoy, in the Windmill community of Hattieville, continues tonight, despite police not being able to make an arrest.  The thirty-year-old was in the company of family and friends, socializing and watching a basketball game on television outside in his neighbor’s yard when gunfire erupted.  The group was blindsided by a lone assailant who took aim squarely at McFoy.  A motive for the fatal attack is yet to be determined.  Meanwhile, police in Hattieville have ramped up patrols in the area, following a spate of recent shootings.

“The fatal shooting happened on May 1st, 2018.  Police visited the Windmill area of Hattieville Village.  Sometime after nine p.m. and upon arrival they observed one Owen Eugene McFoy, a thirty-year-old Belizean from that area with several gunshot wounds to his body.  He was transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.  The investigation is pointing out that sometime earlier in the night; the deceased was socializing with family members and neighbors outside of the yard.  They were watching a basketball game when suddenly they were approached by a male person who fired several shots in their direction, causing the fatal injuries to Mr. McFoy. I am aware that the O.C. from Ladyville substation, Ms. Castillo, they have engaged several patrols in that specific area because there have been several incidents of shots being fired in that area and I know that there is constant patrol within that area and other vicinities around that Windmill where shots have been fired previously.”

“What is the investigation saying, in terms of, while yes these individuals had gathered to watch the basketball game the night before, but what is the investigation doing in terms of the reason or motive for the attack?”

ASP Alejandro Cowo

“The motive, we are still trying to establish what can be the direct cause and motive of that shooting.”
