New board members appointed for D.F.C.

A new Board will be named shortly for the Development Finance Corporation. D.F.C. Chairman Glen Godfrey confirmed to News 5 today that three members, himself included, have asked that they not be reappointed following the expiration of their two year term on September ninth. Godfrey says his appointment at the end of August as Honorary Counsel of Finland, coupled with his involvement with INTELCO, will keep him overly busy. Vice Chairman David Courtenay, and Director Bob Bou-Nahra, have expressed their interest in devoting more time to their businesses and political activities. Senior Counsel Edwin Flowers, who at one point served as Solicitor General, and Belize Business Bureau President Lourdes Smith, have been named as two of the new replacements. Godfrey declined to name his successor, other than to say that he or she would likely be named as an executive chairman. The other three members, all public officers, will remain as part of the new board. They include Financial Secretary Joseph Waight, C.E.O. in the Ministry of Agriculture Sergio Garcia, and C.E.O. in the Ministry of Economic Development Nancy Namis. The new Board is due to take over next month.
