P.S.B. Chief Says it May be Murder; D.P.P. Decides

Chester Williams

ACP Chester Williams says that the men didn’t get a directive from the commanders of the Orange Walk Police Station to go to Sanchez’s house that morning. He says that based on the report, the men acted criminally and out of order. Williams says that the file will be forwarded to the D.P.P.

ACP Chester Williams, Commander, Professional Standards Branch

“They had no directive from the Officer Commanding Orange Walk, nor the Northern Regional Commander, or the Commissioner, no one per se who could have given them permission to be there, gave them no authority to have been there.”

“Sir, do you believe they acted out of order?”

ACP Chester Williams

“If I believe if they did, they surely acted criminally, not out of order but criminally and if it is that the investigation reveals that they are really the ones who did it, they will be dealt with criminally like any ordinary persons.”

“What are some of those consequences that they might be facing?”

ACP Chester Williams

“Well, one person is dead. The consequence of that is murder. And we are not here to prosecute anybody. We will present the case to the D.P.P. and then she will decide from there and if they are convicted the penalty for murder is either life or death.”
