U.D.P. Ready for Nomination

Patrick Faber

Nominations for all municipal candidates will be made next week Wednesday across the country. In Belize City, the political parties and independent candidates will be going over to the Elections and Boundaries Department at the Charles Bartlett Hyde Building on Mahogany Street between ten and four in the afternoon. It’s the procedure before elections that all parties are expected to fulfill, but it is also a day when the parties show up in their colors and flex their political muscles. Today, Deputy Prime Minister says the U.D.P. will be showing out in the afternoon. He says they are confident that the U.D.P. will deliver most if not all of the sixty-seven seats. Here’s what he had to say on that and the P.U.P.’s showing at their national rally and convention.

Patrick Faber, Deputy Prime Minister

“It is always for us a very important event. It is the motivation in the whole election season for me and for my constituency. I have taken on the task of working with the Lake Independence constituency and I can tell you that Lake I is fired up and ready to go for the red, as well. So, we are going to be coming out in full numbers next Wednesday, the twenty-first. I think we get to go in the afternoon if I am not mistaken. So, we get to finish it all up and we get to see the Opposition’s crowd in the morning and we get to top it in the afternoon. I am very optimistic that we will be able to deliver this City once again for the U.D.P.  As I make my checks across the country as the Deputy Leader, I am optimistic that we will take all, if not all then certainly the majority as we have now across the sixty-seven seats that are up for grabs now in the nation.”

Andrea Polanco

“Care to comment on the crowd that the P.U.P. brought out – the numbers?”

Patrick Faber

“It is a national convention and it is from all over the country. I do think it was a good enough crowd but it is not what the P.U.P. said it was. But it is the kind of muscle that you expect from a mass party. But it is a trip to Belize City. While the P.U.P.s will claim victory in that, there are many aspects of course that brings to light the work of the U.D.P.  So many of my colleagues in the U.D.P. media have pointed out that they marched on the cement streets all the way in their parade. They pass the Civic Center. If you look on social media, you see people posing in front of the marbles and the civic logo in their P.U.P. shirts. So, they got to see the work of the U.D.P. in full effect. Everywhere you go in the country you see that kind of work but especially here in the City where we have had a very successful City Council in the last decade or so but especially over the last six years under Darrell Bradley.”
