Around three-thirty on Thursday afternoon, Rong’s Supermarket on Fourth Avenue in Corozal Town was targeted by three thieves, two of whom were armed with guns. There were many patrons inside and the cameras capture two children entering the store just seconds before the robbery. A group of men, posing as customers arrived at the store, but obviously very aware of the surveillance camera outside the building. One of the armed carried a school bag on his back, which was later used to carry the loot. As the trio enters the store, the robber carrying the knapsack moves swiftly to the register and stuffs the money into the bag as his gun-blazing accomplices mount their assault on the male and female storeowners, forcing them to the ground. They were both pistol-whipped near the counter. But another angle from the surveillance cameras shows that the vicious assault on the storeowner began down an aisle in the store. He is kicked and pushed and would later be stomped to the face by a robber. The Chinese man is then pulled to the floor and kicked once again without mercy. The trio then leaves the store on two bicycles, left outside by the two children, who huddled inside the store as the robbery took place.  Police arrived on the scene shortly after. They say that the robbers escaped with seven thousand dollars in different denominations, an I-Phone Six-Plus valued at eighteen hundred and an Android Honoured brand cell phone valued at twelve hundred dollars. The armed robbery took less than two minutes.  Following the attack, the Chinese businessman was taken to the community hospital for medical assistance. Duane Moody for News Five.
