City woman sees charges dropped in attempted murder case

Hilda Locario

A domestic of Belize City no longer faces attempted murder charges after the prosecution decided not to continue the case against her in the Supreme Court. Forty-two year old Hilda Locario was accused of attempting to kill Shirley Leslie on February fifteenth, 2012 on St. Thomas Street during a night out. Locario appeared before Supreme Court Justice Marilyn Williams today and learned that prosecutors entered a nolle prosequi against her due to insufficient evidence. Leslie was stabbed to the throat but the mother of seven contends that she does not remember the incident due to being under the influence of alcohol. Locario, Leslie and Leslie’s sister had gone out after the conclusion of their work for separate political figures at conventions held earlier. They partied and drank together and Locario became intoxicated and lost her memory. The application means Locario can be re-arrested and charged if sufficient evidence can be found against her.
