Teen Love Triangle Leaves 1 Injured, 1 Imprisoned
Another case of attempted murder was heard in the Magistrate’s Court. Eighteen-year-old Elroy Williams from Lords’ Bank is accused of attacking Michael Jones with a two-by-four board on January thirty-first. It’s a case of a love triangle in which Jones’ current partner was Williams’ girlfriend. Jones said he was at home with the woman when Williams showed up and asked to speak to her. He left them alone and went out, but later returned. Williams then left but according to Jones, he later heard a voice asking for the door to be opened. He was surprised when Williams struck him in the face and back of his head with the board. Jones is still in hospital in stable condition. In court Williams was read charges of attempted murder and use of deadly means of harm. He sought bail arguing that he had never been before the court before and has a family to support. But the court prosecutor argued that the case against Williams is strong and that Williams may interfere with the complainant and his ex. Magistrate Michelle Trapp denied bail to Williams and remanded him into custody at the Belize Central Prison until March nineteenth, 2018.
