Faber Tells Election Contenders, ‘Go Home!’
Since 2006, the United Democratic Party has, with few exceptions, been the political party in control of both central and municipal governments. The Opposition People’s United Party has held on to a few strongholds like Orange Walk Town but constantly butted heads with the governing party. But so confident are the United Democratic Party of victory on March seventh that, during Thursday’s CitCo manifesto launch, deputy party leader and Deputy Prime Minister Patrick Faber suggested that “the other guys” don’t stand a chance if by some miracle they are elected.
Patrick Faber, Deputy Leader, U.D.P.
“When you look at the line-up you just heard from, all of them spoke about the relationship that exists between the members of the team; they spoke about the relationship with the party; they spoke about the relationship with the government. No other team that is going to be on the ballot on March seventh can boast what they just boasted. (Applause) It’s all about the relationship – if you don’t have a relationship amongst yourselves, if you don’t have a relationship with the people, if you don’t have a relationship with your party, if you don’t have a relationship with the government, you’re wasting your time, so others should lock up shop and go home.”
Responding to a later question, Faber said he believed that it was best that parties work when both are together in administration.
