CitCo Workers to Get Insurance

With only a few weeks to go before his tenure at City Hall comes to a close, Mayor Darrell Bradley has been announcing a number of incentives for the staff at the City Council. On Thursday we told you how one hundred and ninety five members of staff each received a free parcel of land as a thank you gift to motivate staffers to perform at their best. In our interview on Thursday, the outgoing mayor also told us how four hundred plus staff members each got life a life insurance plan.

“December we put in place a policy where every single member of our staff has a twenty-five thousand dollars life insurance policy. And the reason why we did that is because last year we lost eight members of our staff and seven out of those eight members are from the Sanitation Department and you will know our sanitation employees; those who pick up garbage from the street and those who clean our drains are those who don’t have it like that. So, the City Council had to step in and provide assistance for the funeral, provide assistance for the family members because in many cases that was the only source of income. So, one of the things that we recognize as a benefit to them, you know what, if something happens to you as opposed to having your family going to struggle, the City Council must can provide a policy. So, for every one of our four hundred and thirty-two staff, if any of them should sadly should die, their family members could collect twenty-five thousand dollars immediately.”
