Barrow: It’s Not Time to Say Goodbye Yet

Dean Barrow

And finally from Prime Minister Dean Barrow tonight, the march is on toward his sunset as a political force. With elections due by the end of 2020 or early 2021 and his three-term limit as Prime Minister up, he has decided to leave electoral politics altogether. But since last year, the hints have grown that he may go sooner due to declining health. He says he will make the final decision with support from his party.

Prime Minister Dean Barrow

“I have to go, as you know, certainly in time for the next general elections. And I have not made any secret of the fact that I must go early enough to allow my successor a chance to lead the party into the 2020 general elections as prime minister. When exactly, or how much space that will require, and when exactly I go, is still a matter that I have to agree with the party.”
