Life Sentence Thrown Out for Murder Convict Linsbert Bahadur

On Tuesday, the Court of Appeal pronounced a verdict in a criminal matter involving thirty-three-year-old Linsbert Bahadur Junior.  He was convicted of the murder of his brother-in-law Albert Wade which occurred in April 2006.  While affirming his conviction, the appellate court quashed Bahadur’s life sentence.  In July 2016, he was found guilty after four previous attempts to put him on trial.  The initial attempt to prosecute Bahadur fell flat when the Crown Counsel entered a decision not to proceed with the case.  He was then rearrested and brought before the court in November 2015.  That trial was called off when one of the jurors took ill.  Another attempt commenced in January 2016, but resulted in a hung jury.  Three months later, Bahadur was taken into custody yet again, tried, convicted and sentenced to life behind bars.  A plea was entered the following day and in June of last year, the Court of Appeal heard the matter.  Albert Wade was shot in the face in Santa Elena Town in 2006 and his body was later discovered inside his Toyota Camry on Negro Man Road.
