Rumfish Owner Refutes Family’s Alleged Motive for Carlos Jackson’s Murder

On Wednesday we reported on the killing of twenty-year-old Carlos Jackson. The prep cook who was out socializing on Christmas Eve when he was cut to the throat in front of a nightclub. Jackson’s family alleged that he may have been killed by someone over a work promotion. Today, the owner of the Rumfish, who is out of the country, called News Five to refute those claims. Pamela Solomon says that no member of staff had anything to do with Jackson’ s murder. She says that the family’s grief may have them pointing in the wrong direction and she doesn’t want aspersions to be cast on her staff nor the restaurant. Here’s what she had to say when we spoke with her via phone today:

On the Phone: Pamela Solomon, Owner of Rumfish

“The death of Carlos Jackson is a tragedy and it is a senseless crime. The Rumfish staff is in mourning and the allegation from the Jackson family is unfounded that anyone from the Rumfish restaurant is responsible for this heinous crime.  I understand that the family is grieving and mourning due to the nature of this being a senseless act – they will naturally feel inclined to place blame in order to cope with the sadness and the tragedy to put in in perspective for it to make sense. Unfortunately, it is a senseless crime. We are family at Rumfish and we have all worked together for many years. He has been a prep cook for since two weeks he started with us as dishwasher and that was many months ago. There is no one he has been promoted above so that is unfounded and makes zero sense.   We want to make sure that we can communicate and get the Jacksons to understand that no one at Rumfish has anything to do with it. But they are in our hearts and prayers during this time. We are all devastated and heartbroken and will truly miss the spirit of Carlos at Rumfish.”
