We didn’t approve Marilyn Williams, says P.U.P.

Marilyn Williams

Marilyn Williams is headed to the Supreme Court in January. But despite the Judicial and Legal Services Commission having apparently cleared the former political candidate turned chair of the Integrity Commission and attorney, the People’s United Party still has its questions. On the occasion of the mandated consultation between Prime Minister Dean Barrow and Leader of the Opposition John Briceño, the party had asked some questions that they still haven’t gotten answers to. Despite P.M. Barrow’s insistence that he did not grease the tracks for Williams, Briceño drew comparison with the departed Franz Parke, over which the P.M. expressed greater control, only to be blindsided by detailed allegations of personal and professional misconduct.

“The point is that here the Prime Minister continues to nominate people that are friendly to him. Now, I don’t really know Ms. Williams, and yes, he can make his recommendations and it goes through the process, they consult with us, but we did not approve. We sent to ask for a bit more information that we never got, but the Prime Minister as usual, in his arrogant self, does as he wishes, and then that is why he gets into so much trouble afterwards.”
