Accused shooter of Russell Hyde Jr. and alleged accomplice out on bail

Rasheed Hyde

Santa Elena Town resident and taxi driver Rasheed Hyde, accused of attempting to murder his relative Russell Hyde Junior on December third, is out on bail of ten thousand dollars from the Supreme Court. Also free on the same amount is Michael Mendoza, who is alleged to have given him the gun used in the incident. Mendoza is charged with abetment to murder. The Crown did not object to bail being granted but made the court aware that the accused and accuser are relatives and allegedly had words before the incident. Russell Hyde was said to have been lured to the area specifically for the attack. Several days after the shooting, both men surrendered to police without incident. Justice Adolph Lucas ordered both men, as part of their conditions for bail, to report weekly to the San Ignacio police station, beginning on December twenty-second. They must attend the court adjournments set by the San Ignacio magistrate; and avoid and not interfere with the complainant and any other prosecution witnesses. Any failure to observe these conditions would result in the bail being revoked. Hyde and Mendoza are being represented by attorney Herbert Panton.
