18 Intelco computers for Q.S. Anglican Primary

News 5 caught up with Dickie Bradley while he was on hand for a big event in his constituency. It has been a year, but finally the staff and students of Queen Square Anglican Primary School have a computer lab that each student will be more than proud to work in. Today, International Telecommunications Limited, Intelco, handed over eighteen brand new computers to the school. The donation is just one of many that the company has been making to educational institutions in the country. According to Intelco’s Transmission manager, Kimano Barrow, the programme is a part of government’s goal to place five thousand internet connected machines in schools.

Kimano Barrow, Transmission Manager, Intelco

“Basically, it’s a programme developed by the government of Belize in cooperation with Intelco. We provide computers to the lab and we provide the internet connection via a wireless network.”

Cynthia Reneau, Principal, Queen’s Square Primary School

“The school really needed these computers because the eight that we have are inadequate for the over two hundred and fifty students from the upper division who use the computers.”

Jacqueline Woods

“The teachers who will be teaching the students how to use the computers, have the received training?”

Cynthia Reneau

“Yes, they have received training from the Ministry of Education and we have a computer teacher, who is on leave right now, Miss Michelle Elliot. So the teachers I think will do a good job of teaching the children.”

The students were advised to take care of the new equipment and to use the computers wisely.
