Accused in Gas Tomza Robbery Deny Involvement in Court

An Ex-B.D.F. soldier, along with a night division student at Gwen Lizarraga High School, were arraigned this morning in connection with the robbery of Gas Tomza on the George Price Highway, where the Manager was held at knife point and robbed of one thousand four hundred and eighty dollars on December seventh, 2017. The duo, Clent Geban and Leeroy Brown were read a single charge of robbery by use of force; they pleaded not guilty. Inspector Hector Rodriguez objected to bail since the robbery was captured on surveillance footage which has helped the police investigation.   Senior Magistrate Aretha Ford upheld the objection to bail and remanded both men into custody at the Belize Central Prison until January thirty-first, 2017.  But Geban told the court that he is presently attending school, has a child to care for and was at home at the time of the incident.   Meanwhile, Brown told the court that he was not wearing any of the clothes the police claimed the robbers were wearing.   But according to the victim, Daisy Escobar, she was inside her office when she heard someone calling out for assistance. When she checked, she came face-to-face with her attackers, one who was armed with a knife. Escobar said the armed man grabbed her and she was forced back into her office from where they stole the cash. Geban was detained in the area of the Lord Ridge Cemetery.   Police later visited Gas Tomza and after viewing surveillance footage, detained Brown, who was found in the Jane Usher Boulevard area. This is what police had to say today:
