The Meeting with the PAC
Auditor General Dorothy Bradley met with the six members of the House of Representatives’ Public Accounts Committee nearly a month ago. The meeting did not get into details of the 2012-2013 Audit Report, which found various irregularities in the Ministries of Education and Works, the General Sales Tax Department and Belize Defence Force. Committee member Patrick Faber, with separate concurrence from Chairman Julius Espat, said it lays important groundwork for future discussions. The Auditor General today explained the necessity of starting from the ground up with the mostly dormant Committee.

“I think people – you say you want certain things, you ask for certain things; but when you sit down and you start to discuss, you realize ‘wait a minute; we don’t have everything we need on the table to make the next move forward.’ And so I volunteered to sit with them, to go through the whole budgeting process if needs be, so that they can have a better appreciation for the work being done.”
The second of two already scheduled meetings takes place on Thursday, December seventh.
