What Happened to Cayo’s Victor Spain?

Victor Spain

The west turned out to be the most violent area over the weekend. On Sunday afternoon, police were called out to a house in San Ignacio town where the decomposing body of a man was found. Victor Spain’s body was discovered inside his home at about three o’clock; he had multiple stab wounds to the body and neck. But it is believed that Spain was killed sometime after five-thirty on Friday evening, which is when he was last seen alive. News Five’s Andrea Polanco has more details on this latest murder.

Thirty-three-year-old Victor Spain was found dead in his home here on Domingo Cruz Street in San Ignacio on Sunday. Spain was stabbed multiple times to the body, but a cut to the neck is what caused his death. The last time Spain was seen alive was on Friday evening. Neighbours believe he was killed that same night.

“Spain was last seen alive on Friday, December first, until his body was discovered yesterday sometime around three p.m. The body was observed to have an apparent stab wound above the left eye and other bodily injuries.”

Around three o’clock on Sunday afternoon Spain’s ex-common-law wife found his body lying in a pool of blood inside his home. Since the body was discovered, Police remained on guard outside of the crime scene and until this morning, authorities removed it from the house. It was loaded in this truck and taken away for a postmortem. According to residents on the street, reports are that screams were heard coming from Spain’s house sometime on Friday night. Others say two persons were spotted leaving the yard that same night – but police would not confirm this. There were no visible signs of forced entry at the house. While all the neighbours we spoke with say that Spain was easy going and got along with them, some believe his killing is drug related. Spain was reportedly involved in a drug offence a few years ago – a matter, which, some say, is still before the court. Reporting for News Five, I’m Andrea Polanco.
