Relax with weekend yoga festival

The second annual yoga festival is happening this weekend. The event, which brings together local and international yoga instructors, will have two all day sessions of different types of yoga from beginners to advanced. Michelle Williams of Om Shanti Belize yoga studio tells us more about the two-day event.

“The festival is basically just a time for people to come if they have any questions about what yoga and if they have any assumptions to come and just experience it for themselves. We have everything from beginners yoga, to ashtanga, to restorative to laughing yoga .So, there is a myriad of classes that are going to be offered and then we have food and fresh juices, massages; energy work that is going to be done; rheiki healing and so there is going to be something for everyone. Then on Sunday we have the concert with Stephan opening for the Garifuna Collective from 7-10; so we will have music. The Mariela came from Santo Domingo today and she brought her swing and so she will be offering aerial yoga on one of the trees – so we even have that. It starts tomorrow from 6 a.m. with Jerry Enriquez who will be doing mindfulness and from there every hour there is a class. There are three tents so there will be three classes an hour of different types of yoga and then we end at 7:30 and then on Saturday we start at 8:30 and run through until about 5:30 with the youths from the youth hostel. Them starting from 6:45 we have Stephan opening and then the Garifuna Collective will be playing from eight until 10 at night.”

Tickets for the yoga festival is thirty-five dollars for one day or fifty dollars for two days where you can do as many as ten sessions for one day. You can get your tickets from Om Shanti, Radisson, Cellular Plus, Euro Caribe or you can pay at the gate of Harborview Greens, which is located just across from the “Belize” sign out near the lighthouse.
