This Isn’t 10 Grams! O.W. Cabbie Busted in Corozal

While legislators were busy discussing the decriminalization and the reclassification of marijuana from a regional perspective, local law enforcement was proceeding with drug trafficking charges against a cab driver in Corozal.  Forty-eight-year-old Brian Young was busted on Wednesday morning with roughly twenty pounds of weed inside a plastic bag.  The seizure was made by customs officers operating in San Andres, Corozal District.  Assistant Superintendent of Police Alejandro Cowo provided brief details of the arrest.

“Sometime after seven in the morning, police responded to assist customs personnel in San Andres Village, Corozal District where upon arrival, the customs personnel handed over to police a male person, along with a Chicolastic plastic bag containing suspected cannabis.  Also a brown in color Geo Prizm with Orange Walk taxi license plates, you know.  The driver of the vehicle was learned to be Mr. Brian Alexander Young, a forty-eight-year-old Belizean taxi driver from Trial Farm Village.  The suspected cannabis was weighed and amounted to nine thousand, two hundred and ninety-eight grams of cannabis.  I think he is expected to be charged this morning and taken to the Magistrate’s Court in Corozal.”
