Foreign Minister Elrington to Taiwan on Crime Issues
Taiwan is giving Belize one million dollars for crime-fighting and law-enforcement equipment. The Belize Police Department will acquire body cameras, motorcycles, handcuffs, drones, breathalyzer equipment and a cellebrite machine, which uses technology to recover, transfer and document evidence from different devices. A cheque for a five hundred thousand U.S.-dollar grant was presented to Minister of Foreign Affairs Wilfred Elrington who is on a working visit to Taiwan. The visit is to build on the Police Cooperation Agreement signed between both countries in September. Minister Elrington is also meeting with officials from the National Police Agency, Central Police University, and Taiwan Police College. Earlier this week, Minister Elrington met with the President of Taiwan Doctor Tsai Ing-wen, as well as the Foreign Minister and Mainland Affairs Council of Taiwan.
