New Fabers Road to Get “Olympic” Football Stadium!

Patrick Faber

Collet area representative and Deputy Prime Minister Patrick Faber announced in April that some one hundred and seventy-five thousand dollars would be spent on upgrades to the football field adjacent to the basketball court and Grace Primary School in the Fabers’ Road Extension area. The main road is of course being re-done by Imer Hernandez Development for just under eight million dollars. Faber today revealed the name of the major donor to the project, which is in the name of late brother and Belize City councilor Andrew.

“I am pleased to announce that since the last time we spoke, we have gotten some tremendous help for the Faber’s Road Football Stadium. For those who don’t know this is right beside the Grace Primary School, there is an existing football field that is there and it is located in the Collet constituency. And our plan was to put a fence around it and put a kind of stage and bleacher seating so that those who come and watch games can come and do so in comfort. Since then we have gotten an injection from a big partner, the Olympics Committee, and they have agreed to fund the complete construction of that in addition to the funds that we had already garnered, so that it should be a pretty impressive facility. It’s not anything to the stage of Marion Jones, this is in a constituency, and I think it will be a nice addition to the works that are going on on Fabers’ Road.”

Some funding had previously been secured from the National Sports Council, Peacework and private donors and Faber had projected that works would be ending around this time, but today he said those works are still delayed as they look for a contractor – we presume Imer Hernandez will be extremely busy.
