Police Shoot Ladyville Man Involved in Domestic Dispute

Leon Usher

Thirty-six-year-old Leon Usher is in the hospital under police guard after cops shot him in the knee on Tuesday.  Ladyville police were called out to Usher’s residence in the Milpa Area because of a domestic dispute between him and with his common-law-wife, Tiffara Tillett. Tillett told the cops that Usher was stopping her from leaving the house.  Police say that he turned on them “in a boisterous and rowdy manner, making threats, saying that no one will remove him from his house and if police made any attempts he was ready to kill and be killed.”  Police proceeded to remove Tillett with her personal belongings from the house, and that is when the Ladyville resident aggressively rushed the police in an attempt to take away Tillett’s belongings. Police report that Usher told one of the officers that no one would leave alive and that is when he supposedly jumped on the officer.  The allegation is that Usher tried to take away the officer’s firearm from his waist, but the officer fired a single shot, which hit Usher to the left knee.   He was restrained and remains in the K.H.M.H. under guard pending charges.  Police say a criminal and internal investigation has been launched.
