Alejandro Cowo

Violence has sparked up in Corozal where an elderly couple was viciously attacked in an early morning home invasion on Monday. This Wednesday, a woman was shot in the abdomen while she was at home. Tonight, twenty-two-year-old Brenda Jandrez is in a critical condition at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital.  Jandrez was at home along with another unnamed individual when they both came under gunfire.  The single round found its mark on the woman’s belly, injuring her in the stomach.  Police have detained one person in connection with the incident and are yet to prefer charges on the suspect.

“We had a shooting incident in the Corozal District on Wednesday, November first, sometime after 8:30 in the morning.  Corozal police visited the Corozal Community Hospital where they observed a female by the name of Brenda Jandrez suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the stomach and being transported from the Corozal to the Orange Walk hospital.  Initial information is that she was inside of a house at Mahogany Street which is her address, along with another male person, when a gunshot was heard inside of the house and she received the resulting injuries.  At present she is admitted at the K.H.M.H. in a critical condition and a male person has been detained and the case is under investigation at this moment.”
