Inspector Says Formation Commander Sent Questioned Info
Yearwood is adamant that he did not disseminate false information to the media when he shared details of a police situation report involving the Castro brothers in an altercation in San Pedro a few months ago. According to the inspector, the information was provided to his office by the formation commander who he refers to by name. News Five however, has been unable to confirm that the sequence of events as stated by Yearwood in that sitrep originated from the desk of the officer commanding the San Pedro police formation.
Inspector Fitzroy Yearwood
“For me to be thrown under the bus and referred to as somebody that is misleading the public, it hurts. I do not care what they intend to do with me, if they intend to send me to Jalacte or even to guard the gates of hell, I do not care because at the end of the day I want the Belizean public to know that my personal interest is to stop crime and violence in Belize or at least, in the least, reduce crime and violence in our country. That is the real issue at hand, not some so-called minister’s son that is being accused of something that they did, I didn’t make up the story, I do not live in San Pedro, I do not work in San Pedro. I work in Belize City. I can only disseminate information that has been sent to me from the formation commanders in no person other than Assistant Superintendent of Police Ms. Dianne Augustine that sent me that information. If she wants to woman up or man up she should have told them that she disseminated that information to me and I in turn sent it out to you, members of the media. I will call their names because I will not take blame for some melee or for something that I am not guilty of. I will stand on my ground and I am prepared to fight them legally for trying to destroy my name and my character that I have built over twenty-one years in the eyes of the general public and the Belize Police Department.”
