Man and Woman Injured in Separate Belize City Shootings
Aside from the murders, there were two other shootings over the weekend in the city. Both occurred within two hours of each other on Friday night. Around eight o’clock shots rang out at the corner of Banak and Partridge Streets. Thirty-two-year-old Alrick Gotoy was hit once to the chin and rushed to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. Gotoy has since reported that while he was walking on Partridge Street and at its intersection with Banak Street, a gunman on bicycle approached and opened fire on him before speeding away.
Two hours earlier, the blast of a single gunshot echoed behind Xtra House on Cemetery Road. Around six p.m., twenty-three-year-old Allyson Murillo was walking on Glynn Street when she was hit by a stray bullet. According to reports, a man was being pursued by a gunman who opened fire; the bullet missed its intended target and caught Murillo on the forearm. She has since been treated and released. We have been unable to get additional information from the police.
