In news from Belmopan, today was a big day for the Government Printers as they celebrated their one hundred and thirty-second birthday. As part of open day activities on the compound, visitors toured the facility and viewed exhibits compiled by the Belize Archives Department displaying the work of the printers since its establishment in 1871. Today, the department is equipped with the latest in desktop publishing systems, electronic colour separation and digital imaging manipulation. According to Government Printer Lawrence Nicholas, the department’s accomplishments are to be commended.

Lawrence Nicholas, Government Printer

“It is my view that our work has reached a very high international standard with regards to especially in the area of colour printing, not withstanding that there is ways left to go to reach our full potential. I believe that working together, cooperating with each other, that we could accomplish standards that we could actually be proud of as the Printing Department. And this today should chart a new course for us.”
