Chairman Says ‘Nobody Knows’ Who Will Run for Leader

At present Briceño’s office remains unchallenged, but that’s subject to change in the weeks ahead.  The party chairman confirmed this fact when the question was put to him bluntly.

“Do you have any idea preliminarily, of any interest being expressed in terms of challenging the leadership of John Briceño?”

“No.  I have not received any nominations and I think right now it’s all conjecture and innuendo and assumptions and I can’t operate like that.  I could inform the media when I get nominations on that deadline, but before then, no, I can’t make any kind of assumptions as to who will be challenging and what post will be up or anything like that. Until the time when the deadline passes, I know that the media game is to offer their own opinion and offer their conjecture but in reality, for now it’s really, nobody knows who is going to be nominated.  We’ll soon have an idea of it, it’s only two weeks away.  So I just ask that we wait until that process is completed, give it a chance to go through and you’ll see that coming forward the information will come out.  I’ve asked the members of the national executive to refrain from addressing the media.  As chairman I will be addressing the media if anything new comes up and certainly on that date and time we will be releasing the names that have been nominated.”
