BREAKING: Late Evening Murder in Belize City

Just before news time tonight, there was a murder on Police Street in the south side of Belize City. Around five p.m., police responded to reports of shots being fired on La Croix Boulevard. Inside a property at the corner of Linda Vista and Police Streets, they found the body of Dorian Sutherland. Preliminary investigations reveal that Sutherland had an altercation with another person prior to the shooting. Within minutes he was shot multiple times and succumbed on the spot. Assistant Superintendent of Police Alejandro Cowo provides some details of this latest homicide.

“At about five p.m. that a male person was shot at La Croix Boulevard. As a result police proceeded to corner Linda Vista and Police Street. Thereafter they were taken inside of a house about a hundred feet from Linda Vista where they observed the motionless body of Dorian Sutherland with a gunshot wound to the body. All we can tell you at this moment is that he was somewhere at the Linda Vista when he had an altercation with somebody and as a result an argument ensued and he ended up being shot.”

“Do you guys have any suspects at this time that you are looking for?”

“Yeah, we have a suspect at this time, but I cannot reveal the name at this moment.”

“Can you reveal how many injuries he sustained and where?”

ASP Alejandro Cowo

“I cannot tell you exactly he amount of injury but I know that there are more than one injury to the body.”

“So he died on the spot?”

“Yes.”
