2 Charged in Luis Sierra Robbery-Murder

Lyndon Lewis

On Friday, the body of forty-six year old Luis Antonio Sierra, a naturalized Belizean businessman of Bullet Tree village, Cayo, was located near Valley Community, Stann Creek District. He had been shot once to the abdomen. On Sunday, the man whose farm he was visiting, thirty-one year old Lyndon Lewis of Mile eighteen, Hummingbird Highway, was arrested and charged for conspiracy to commit robbery, and thirty-four year old Saul Campos of Valley Community was charged with the murder of Sierra and keeping unlicensed firearm and ammunition. Police confirmed that the motive for the murder was robbery. Lewis had invited Sierra to visit his farm on the pretense of selling cattle to him, and while supposedly looking for the cattle, as single armed gunman came out, told Sierra he was going to die, and shot him once before fleeing. Accompanying Sierra was Mario Teck, who escaped.

Sierra called a family member shortly after the incident but lost connection on his cell phone.  He was found around eleven-thirty on Friday morning by a search party of police, Belize Defence Force and family members. A point-thirty-eight special revolver with four live rounds and an expended shell was retrieved from the scene. Police say they are conducting further investigations.
