Buena Vista Man Killed after Brawl

A Salvadoran national was killed in the Cayo District over the weekend. He was at a bar when another man took his drink and consumed it. A fight ensued outside of the premises and that is when Jose Sibrian was stabbed and killed. Police say they are now looking for the suspect. Andrea Polanco has more.

Jose Ulysess Sibrian was out in his village of Buena Vista having a drink on the tenth night. But he would later lose his life over that drink. On Sunday night sometime around nine Sibrian was at a bar in the village when another mantook away his drink and drank it.

“A misunderstanding developed there and they were both ejected out of the bar by the bar owner. They both left.On the street there was another misunderstanding that developed between them. Jose Sibrian was fatally stabbed and fell to the street side. We have recorded several statements and we are now looking for that Hispanic male person.”

Sibrian was stabbed two times in the abdomen and left here in the street to die. The alleged killer is a Hispanic from the village – having moved to Buena Vista just a few weeks before. According to police, the two men didn’t have any conflict in the past – and neither did they know each other. Police say they will not release a name but they have issued an APB for the suspected killer.

“Is he considered a flight risk? We know majority of the people of this village are from neighboring countries and still hold passport for their countries; any APB issued?”

“Yes. We have sent out an all formation message to look out for that person.”

Sibrian, a Salvadoran national, was a peaceful member of the community. According to his neighbor he was known for his easy going manner. She was him just a couple hours before he was killed:

“He was a guy who was calm. He didn’t respect anyone. He used to like to play with kids. Just the day they killed him we were going to the river and he want to go so bad with us. But we couldn’t take him with us. When I came back I went to bed and cook and stuff and then the next day we heard police was here and we heard he was stabbed.”

“He lived right in front of your house; you didn’t see him after you guys went to the river – when you return you didn’t see him?”
