Police meet and greet on Jane Usher Boulevard

Police were out on their weekly meet and greet visits today with residents across the city. We went along with the cops on the south side in the Jane Usher Boulevard Area. According to police, the residents want to see more patrols and have more face time with the authorities. When we caught up with Deputy Regional Commander Superintendent Daniel Arzu, he explains that because of the recent spike in crime they have beefed up patrols.

“They are telling us that they are seeking peace. We do know that the residents are concerned about police presence; they want to see us more on the ground and they want to see us more engaged so that they can see and feel that sense of safety within their neighborhood. Generally, their concerns are about the police presence and they themselves are trying to live with each other comfortably within the area that they are residing. We have beefed up our patrols in the entire southside in terms of the spike in crime we have seen recently. So, there has to be some strategy put in place and that is what we have done. We have strategically post our officers in areas that are most vulnerable in terms of crime and we believe it is working for us.”
