Senior Officer Tangled with Customs over Pharmaceuticals

Dinsdale Thompson

There is another cop in hot water. Senior officer, Superintendent Dinsdale Thompson was busted in Arenal Village on Friday by customs officials in possession of a quantity of contraband pharmaceuticals.  While the drugs were confiscated, Thompson settled the matter quietly for an undisclosed sum.  Still, he is under investigation by the Professional Standards Branch of the Belize Police Department.  This morning, during a press briefing with Commander of Operations, ACP Edward Broaster, it was revealed that the matter will be sent up to the Public Services Commission once the investigation has been completed.

“Are you able to speak about the case regarding Superintendent Dinsdale Thompson who was intercepted in Arenal on Friday by Customs with uncustomed goods, namely pharmaceuticals?”

“All I can say to that is that the Professional Standards Branch is conducting their investigation into that matter which I believe will be forwarded to the Public Services Commission.”

“What’s the situation with him right now?  Is he on leave?”

ACP Edward Broaster

“At this time yes.”

The senior police officer was recently transferred to Belize City.
