New North Side Commanders ‘Meet and Greet’

It’s been two weeks since a major shuffle within the Police Department came into effect. The move saw Southern Regional Commander Senior Superintendent Ralph Moody transferred to Belize City to take on the commandership of Eastern Division North. His deputy is now Superintendent Reymundo Reyes, who was previously in charge at the Intermediate Southern Formation in Independence. With just weeks in to wet their feet in urban Belize City, the senior commanders along with a contingent of officers took to the streets to meet with residents. The area along Gabourel Lane and Handyside Street is not known to experience major crimes, but Senior Superintendent Moody says that noise pollution and abandoned lots are among the concerns of the residents.

“I am the ground running from last week. I must say that the community, the public really appreciates seeing the police officers doing the meet and greet. They applaud our effort, they are asking us to continue, especially the business people and the residents within this area. They do have some concerns like music, loud music at night. It is something that we need to look at; that we need to work along with the environment. It is something that we need to look at along with the town board and the city council. It is not only the police business; we can only take our complaint to them and ask them for their assistance. As well as also have complaints with bushy lots, lighting conditions and those sort of things.”
