Jury Gets Case of Bert Vasquez for Forcible Abduction

Bert Vasquez

The sensational case of forcible abduction, sexual assault and harm against Bert Vasquez, involving a sixteen-year-old minor back in May 2011 came to an end just before news time. At about four-twenty this afternoon, the jury retired to deliberate after more than six hours of summing up of the evidence of the case presented by the D.P.P.’s crown, Sherigne Rodriguez.  This morning, Judge Adolph Lucas in his sum up told the jurors that of the three counts Vasquez is charged with, they are to deliberate on forcible abduction and aggravated assault of an indecent nature.  In trial, the minor testified that she was taken into a vehicle driven at the time by Vasquez who took her to an area in the Vista Del Mar area. He choked her and started to take off her clothes, but she told him that she had AIDS.  He threatened to kill her and forced her to perform oral sex on him. A struggle ensued and after she scratched him on the face, he hit her in with a flash light. This is when Vasquez, says the victim, told her to get out of the vehicle; she ran and got help from a lady. But from the dock, Vasquez denied the victim’s account and called his mother as a witness who testified he was with her at the time. His attorney Oscar Selgado asked the jury not to believe the testimony of the victim as she was not being truthful to the court and noted there were discrepancies in what she told the court in respect of the vehicle purportedly used in the abduction and the description of the attacker. But late this evening, the jury unanimously found Vasquez guilty of forcible abduction and aggravated assault. Even as Vasquez remains behind bars tonight, he is yet to face trial for the murder of Jasmine Lowe, a young girl from San Ignacio.

When attorneys children get raped or beaten then they will stop pleading not guilty for these animals.
