Trio Found with Old B.D.F. Uniforms and Boat Engines in O.W.

We’re following the heartbreaking story in San Pedro where a young girl was found dead with physical and sexual injuries, but we’ll start with a developing story of Orange Walk police who are keeping a tight lid on an ongoing criminal investigation. News Five can confirm tonight that authorities in the north have seized an inventory of used battle dress uniforms, as well as discarded outboard engines that were the property of the Belize Defense Force. There is one report that a high level officer in the B.D.F. could be implicated. Since discontinuing the use of the old camo, the worn uniforms had been surrendered to the Ministry of Finance for disposal, along with the damaged boat engines.  According to Superintendent David Chi, arrests were made on Thursday involving three men who were found in possession of those items.  Mexican national Estevan de Jesus was busted in with an assortment of military attire.  Upon his arrest, de Jesus led police to the residence of Ramon Torres in Orange Walk Town where they also met another individual identified as Miguel Baeza.  A search of the property led to the discovery of additional uniforms and equipment.  The trio has been taken into custody pending the outcome of an investigation.  News Five spoke with Brigadier General David Jones earlier today, confirming that he is aware of the seizure and that the items were accounted for prior to being handed over to the Ministry of Finance. The trio remains in detention at the Orange Walk Police Station.
