“Person of interest” sought in Abdush Salam murder

Abdush Salam

Police are actively looking for a person of interest in the murder of Bangladeshi national Abdush Salam. The nude body of Salam was found in his Orange Street apartment by one of his housemate on Saturday night. It is believed that Salam invited a man to his room sometime after one-thirty that day, when he left his shop at the Novelo’s Bus Terminal en route to the apartment for lunch. Surveillance footage captured a young man—whose name has not been disclosed, but frequently visited the deceased—leaving the apartment just after four p.m. An hour and a half later, Salam’s body was discovered. CIB Commander Superintendent Alejandro Cowo, says the police are looking for the suspect who strangled the twenty-nine-year-old Bangladeshi national.

“He worked there until sometime after one, one-thirty and he left there. That was the last time that he was seen alive. We have other information that we will be following up at this time, but we cannot disclose the names of the person that we suspect at this moment.  We have interviewed the tenants and they are assisting with the investigation. They had given a description more or less of a person that was seen leaving from the building sometime after four on that Saturday. There was no bruises or any physical violence that you could observe on the body. We suspect that he was maybe strangled or choked to death.”
