Everal Gray makes plea in drug trafficking case

Everal Gray

Belize City resident, Everal Gray, was convicted this morning in the Belize City Magistrate for drug trafficking. Gray, who is no stranger to the court, appeared before Senior Magistrate Sharon Fraser and changed his not guilty plea to one of guilty. He was sentenced to two more years in prison at the Belize Central Prison where he is already serving a three-year sentence for the same offense following a 2016 conviction.  Fortunately, for the repeat offender Senior Magistrate Fraser ordered that new sentence run concurrently with his sentence imposed last year, so he will get to serve a total of three years for two convictions.   Gray agreed that he was trafficking two separate amounts of marijuana, totalling over three hundred grams. Police fished two plastic bags that they saw Gray throw into a canal on February tenth 2015 on Jones Street, Belize City. In mitigation, Gray begged the court for leniency since he has a nine-year-old son who is in the care of his sick mother saying he would like to be released from prison to take care of him.
