San Pedro Residents Demand Justice for Murdered Felix Ayuso Jr.

Around eleven a.m. on Sunday, residents gathered at the Central Park in San Pedro for the Justice for Felix March, which took the gathering through the streets of the town. The initiative was organized by friends and family of Felix Ayuso Junior, a human rights activist who worked along with the National Aids Commission on the island. Ayuso Junior was murdered back in February of this year inside his home in the San Juan area. Just last week, police reported that twenty-eight-year-old Vildo Westby was wanted for the murder. Alexis Eiley, who organized the initiative, says that the community wants Ayuso Junior’s as well as other murders on the island to be cracked.

“…to let everyone know that we have not forgotten Felix and that we still want justice for Felix and justice for all of the unsolved murders here on the island. Not only Felix but all the families here in San Pedro that have gone with their family members forgotten and the crime has not been solved. The turnout was great, we had great response from the community. We had lots of people out there on Sunday, lots of support from the community. The reason why we did this is because we have not forgotten Felix.  We have had help from the local authorities here in San Pedro; we have been working hand in hand with them. They have been cooperating with us, but we feel that we can do more and that’s what we are doing.”
