Video Review for Businessman Robbed at Airstrip

Fernando Valladarez

On Monday, we told you about the store manager who was robbed over the weekend by two men who lay waited him at the airstrip in Ranchito, Corozal. Today, police say they have looked at surveillance footage but it has not been very useful because the video quality is poor but it does confirm that the incident transpired as was reported. Thirty-four-year-old Avinash Deshmuk was robbed of fifty-four thousand dollars proceeds from store sales upon his return from a quick trip to San Pedro. As he arrived at the Ranchito airstrip, he went to his vehicle in the parking lot and was approached by two men he spotted sitting in a vehicle behind him. The men hit him to his head and robbed him of the bag with all the money. Corozal Police say they are no closer to finding the robbers but they remain of the belief that it was an inside job.

Sgt. Fernando Valladarez, Head of CIB, Corozal Police

“So far, we have gotten a copy of the surveillance video. It shows the actual robbery taking place. The video is not of a hundred percent clarity but you can make out two persons approaching the vehicle where the Indian businessman was. The attack is on the video and on the scene when they are fleeing the area. However, since it is not clear enough we cannot make out much of it.”

“Are you able to see license plate or anything?”

Sgt. Fernando Valladarez

“Can’t see no license plates for the vehicle nor the color doesn’t show likewise and we haven’t gotten any information from anyone out there likewise to suggest yes it is this person or yes it is this vehicle. But we are still yet following on all leads and ask the public to please call in and tell us what they know of the robbery and we will look after it.”

“The O.C. had indicated when we spoke on Saturday that the clues they are getting point to that it may been an inside job?”

Sgt. Fernando Valladarez

“Well, up to today I am still of that opinion that it looks like an inside job. Again if you are to view the video, then definitely you would appreciate that.”
