Dorian Pakeman Back on the Job, But Warned to be Careful

Dorian Pakeman

Press Office Director Dorian Pakeman is back on the job, after being suspended in the wake of a fatal traffic accident that claimed the life of Gardenia resident Dean Dawson in 2016.  The deadly mishap took place on the Philip Goldson Highway while the mechanic was riding his bicycle along the stretch of road near miles twenty-two.  Despite Pakeman’s subsequent arrest, charges were late in being levied, amid controversy surrounding evidence tampering.  Pakeman has since been cleared of the single charge that was brought against him and has been reinstated.  PM Barrow spoke to the media today concerning Pakeman’s return to the press office fold.

Prime Minister Dean Barrow

“Since all the, I don’t know if the charges were dropped or they were thrown out, but since he’s been freed of all the charges he’s gotten his job back.”

Dean Barrow

“Has he been given any stricter guidelines because of that incident?”

Prime Minister Dean Barrow

“Well I did have a chat with Mr. Pakeman and just in a general way made the point that he’s been cleared of all charges and he’s entitled to his job back.  That’s our system and that’s fair play and that’s giving him justice, but that he must realize that the scrutiny of the public will be even more concentrated and so, in addition to wanting him to produce at the press office for the government and people of Belize, I also pointed out that he needs to be super careful and ensure that he gives no cause for any kind of public lashing of him and the press office and the government to take place.”
