Police Going Ahead with Plans for Transfers

Elodio Aragon Jr.

There will be a new regime at the helm of law enforcement in the Belize District jurisdiction come July first as well as in other districts.  Eastern Division South will see the departure of Assistant ComPol Chester Williams for a desk job at the Professional Standards Branch in Belmopan.  He will be replaced at the Raccoon Street Headquarters by Marco Vidal, former head of the Gang Suppression Unit.  That transfer is arguably the most controversial of the pending relocations, since it is widely acknowledged that ACP Williams has made significant strides in improving the relationship between the various Belize City gangs and the police department.  Today we asked Minister of State Elodio Aragon for an update on the scheduled move.

“Can you bring us up to speed with the upcoming transfers and the movement of officers within the Belize District jurisdiction?”

Elodio Aragon Jr., Minister of State, Police

“Well, you know the department had its plan.  I think early this year the transfers came out, basically stating where our senior officers would be going, et cetera.  Transfers also came up for junior officers and that is the plan and that’s what’s going to happen, you know, as far as I am concerned.”
